Per Paul Joyce of the Times, Giovanni Leoni has been given permission by Parma to travel for his medical today, to complete his £26m transfer to Liverpool FC.
The final pieces of the transfer window seem to be falling in place for the Reds, with a coveted young centre-back in addition to the many moves they’ve made. Pending chases include Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and the long drawn-out saga that is Alexander Isak forcing his way out of Newcastle United.
The big Italian boy will be a part of Liverpool’s first-team squad. There were suggestions that Parma had asked Liverpool for the player to stay at Parma on loan for the 25/26 season but it always seemed unlikely as doing so would have prevented him from achieving homegrown status in the future. (Yes, he’s that young, only 18 years old.)
Anyhow, Liverpool’s summer of reinforcements continues to roll on, with one for the future this time. Up the big boy Reds.
