A man charged with driving into crowds during Liverpool's Premier League victory parade is set to appear in court today for a plea and trial preparation hearing. Paul Doyle, 53, was charged with seven offences following the incident on Water Street in the city centre shortly after 6pm on Monday, May 26.

Merseyside Police said that 134 people were injured when Doyle allegedly drove his Ford Galaxy Titanium into crowds departing from the waterfront post-parade. Doyle, from Croxteth, Liverpool, is due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday (August 14).

He stands accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving. One wounding charge and an attempted grievous bodily harm charge are related to children, aged 11 and 17.

Earlier this year, a provisional trial date was set for November 24, and the case is anticipated to last between three to four weeks.
