Matt Doherty completely blown away by one Wolves player in training, he’ll be a ‘definite…

Wolves players were asked which of their teammates impressed them the most in pre-season, and one player in particular has stood out to veteran defender Matt Doherty.

The Irishman has been a mainstay in Vitor Pereira’s side this summer, with Yerson Mosquera still recovering from an injury.

Pre-season for Wolves wasn’t very impressive at all, but there were some bright moments, and it’s a new face at Molineux who gets Doherty’s pick.

Matt Doherty likes what he sees from new Wolves signing Jhon Arias

Jhon Arias arrived at Wolves this summer following a £15 million transfer from Brazilian side Fluminense.

Pre-season started well for the Colombian, as he scored on his debut against Girona. Since then, he has continued to get the nod from Pereira and is showing why he was brought in to replace Matheus Cunha.

Arias is a strong chance creator and clearly has an eye for goal, with Doherty already convinced: “Jhon’s not been here too long, but I like the look of what I’m seeing from him, he looks like he could be a definite starter for us.”

The frontline is a weak spot for Wolves after so many key players have left, but Doherty backs his new teammate to step in and make an impact.

To hammer home the positive impression the two new signings have left on the squad, Rodrigo Gomes adds: “I think both of the new players Fer and Jhon Arias, they are both really good. I’ll say both.”

Clearly the players are happy with the new additions to Wolves’ attack, and they will be hoping their picks can hit the ground running this season. The Man City game is a chance for Arias to perform against an old Wolves foe, while Lopez will also be hungry to get his first goal in Old Gold.
