Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has now revealed his telling 2025/26 Premier League prediction for Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils side.
The new Premier League season is right around the corner and Ruben Amorim will oversee the Red Devils’ return to action in England’s top-flight league on Sunday.
Manchester United’s 2025/26 Premier League fixture list was revealed in June and the Red Devils have a challenging start to the upcoming campaign under Amorim.
The Red Devils will kick off their forthcoming season at Old Trafford, with United hosting 2024-25 Premier League runners-up Arsenal on the weekend.
United’s encounter against the Gunners will be played at 4:30pm UK time on Sunday, with Amorim hopeful for a strong start to the season for the Red Devils.
The Premier League club’s opening five league fixtures also include a visit to the Etihad to face Manchester City in September before United host Chelsea at home.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been able to complete his first pre-season at the Premier League club this summer ahead of the new campaign.
The 40-year-old former Sporting CP head coach was appointed to his role during the 2024-25 Premier League season after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Wayne Rooney revealed his top five for the 2025-26 Premier League season and he predicted Liverpool to retain the title.
He believes that Arsenal will fall short of Liverpool again and finish second, while Manchester City and Chelsea are picked for third and fourth respectively.
The eye-opening prediction from Rooney is for the Red Devils to finish fifth and the United legend insisted that he “can see” the project that Amorim is rolling out.
“Yeah, as I said, I still think they need one or two more signings, but I think Amorim, I can see what he’s doing,” the 39-year-old BBC pundit said.
“I think it’s looking better for Manchester United and I think they will sneak into the top five, so yeah, I hope they do and, you never know, [they] might finish third.”

All eyes are on Amorim to deliver a major improvement in United’s Premier League standing this time around, following the Red Devils’ 15th-place finish last season.
There is a hint of optimism in some places with how well United could perform in the new season, but there is still a sense of caution around any bold predictions.
However, Rooney’s assessment of United potentially challenging for a Champions League spot paints a picture of how the Red Devils are clearly being overlooked.
Amorim could well and truly defy the odds and the United manager has already received a major boost with the arrival of new signings at Old Trafford this summer.
It will be interesting to see where United are placed in the Premier League in 2026, but climbing back into the top half of the table is an absolute must for Amorim.
