Everton will reportedly aim to beat Leeds United and West Ham United to sign 28-year-old AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Artem Dovbyk is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees have submitted their opening bid worth £37 million to sign the AS Roma striker in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian international is also a target for other Premier League clubs, including Leeds United and West Ham United.
Artem Dovbyk and an ill-advised move
Artem Dovbyk was one of the most underrated strikers in the world 12 months ago after guiding Girona to shock UEFA Champions League qualification. However, the 28-year-old did not participate in the competition with the Catalan outfit, having joined AS Roma last summer. However, the move has been ill-advised, as the player was inconsistent in his debut season at Stadio Olimpico.
The Ukrainian international has still managed a decent tally of 17 goals and four assists in 45 appearances thus far for AS Roma. However, Dovbyk faces an uncertain future at the Serie A club this summer, with the Giallorossi eyeing Nikola Krstovic as his replacement. Meanwhile, his stock in the market is high, with Leeds United, Everton, and West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
A man in demand
Leeds United may not need another striker this summer after striking an agreement to complete a Bosman move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Lukas Nmecha arrived at Elland Road earlier this summer, and Joel Piroe is another option for Daniel Farke. So, while Patrick Bamford has no future at Elland Road, Leeds United should not sign another centre-forward.
Meanwhile, Everton’s interest in Artem Dovbyk is understandable. The Toffees have parted ways with Calvert-Lewin as a free agent, with Beto the only striker in David Moyes’s squad. So, Everton must sign a centre-forward this summer, with Dovbyk emerging as a viable target. The Merseyside outfit will aim to sign the AS Roma attacker after offering £37 million to the Serie A club.
As for West Ham United, Niclas Fullkrug and Evan Ferguson were dreadful for the East London outfit in the 2024/25 season. The latter is no longer at West Ham after his loan stint ended, and he has coincidentally joined AS Roma, which impacts Dovbyk’s situation. So, the former Girona striker is a viable target for West Ham.
Meanwhile, recent reports have suggested that AS Roma’s asking price for Dovbyk is around £37 million. With Everton presenting a bid worth that sum, it will be interesting to see if the Merseyside outfit will have done enough to beat Leeds United and West Ham United for his signature.
