Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos has committed his future to Luis Enrique's side following transfer links to Newcastle United. The Portuguese powerhouse has been linked as a potential Alexander Isak replacement at St James' Park with the Sweden international keen to leave the Magpies.

Isak, who is the club's record-signing, has been banished from first-team training to carry out an individual programme on his own following his conduct after Liverpool expressed an interest in signing him. The 25-year-old was sent home prior to the pre-season friendly against Celtic before missing the tour of the Far East as he carried out his recovery from a thigh injury in Spain at Real Sociedad's training complex.

Newcastle confirmed the signing of Malick Thaw from AC Milan this week but it has been a sobering transfer window so far in the North East.

The Magpies have been dealt repeated blows in their pursuit of attacking firepower as Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike turned down opportunities with the club in favour to join their Premier League rivals.

Ramos was named as one of the possible alternatives to join the club with reports suggesting that PSG were open to selling the 24-year-old.

However, the forward has confirmed that he will remain at the Champions League holders after the UEFA Super Cup defeat of Tottenham on Wednesday.

"It's great for Chevalier, it's great for Zabarnyi to see from the first match that we are here to win at PSG," he began.

"And me? I have the same outlook as always, I'm ready to be there when the team needs me.

"If I'm given the ball like that, I'll always score. If I stay? Yes."

He was on target as the Parisians staged a dramatic late comeback against Spurs after the North London club went into the final ten minutes of the clash with a two-goal lead.

Luis Enrique's side would go on to beat Spurs on penalties after Micky van de Ven and Mathys Tel missed their spot-kicks in Udine.

Newcastle kick off their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa this weekend but there is still no clarity on whether Isak will be involved.

There have been reports this week that the forward has gone as far as moving out of his rented house amid the ongoing speculation.

Liverpool initially saw a £11 0million bid rejected but it is reported they are unlikely to return to the table with a second offer unless Newcastle soften their stance.
