**Former Inter Milan and Italy goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has told his compatriot Gianluigi Donnarumma to sign for Man City this summer.**
The Paris Saint-Germain star confirmed on Tuesday that he will leave the Parc des Princes before the transfer window closes. The Cityzens have reportedly held talks about purchasing the 26-year-old, with Chelsea having also been linked, but Pagliuca says a move to the Etihad should be his top priority:
“If I were him, I’d go straight to Guardiola. Or he could just stay at PSG for another year, play his chances, and then be free in a year. Maybe Inter.”
Donnarumma has less than a year left on his contract at PSG and the failure to agree an extension has led to his current club signing a replacement: Lucas Chevalier.
Will Man City sign another goalkeeper?
--------------------------------------
Manager Pep Guardiola currently has FOUR first-team keepers to choose from, including Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Marcus Bettinelli and James Trafford.
City paid £27m to bring in Trafford from Burnley, having matched Newcastle’s offer for the shot-stopper. Signing Donnarumma would undoubtedly limit the Englishman’s first-team opportunities.
Despite playing senior football for almost a decade, Donnarumma is not that much older than Trafford. He is 26 while the City keeper is 22, so it is not as though the Italian would be a signing for the short term either.
There are conflicting reports about Ederson’s future
----------------------------------------------------
Some, including Fabrizio Romano, have suggested that Donnarumma could be brought in if Ederson leaves Manchester before September 1s.
However, sources close to City claim that the club are not looking to sell the Brazilian despite interest from Galatasaray.
It paints a rather confusing picture. What is not in doubt, though, is that a [**Ballon d’Or**](https://mancitynews.com/manchester-city-first-team-squad/) nominee is on the market, and it remains to be seen who will snap him up.
