Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United remains uncertain amid reported Liverpool interest.
Alan Shearer has told Liverpool that Newcastle United would not even consider selling Dan Burn for £110million.
The Magpies have found themselves at the centre of a transfer storm involving Alexander Isak. Liverpool are chasing the Swede, who has not kicked a ball for Newcastle in pre-season.
Refusing to go on the pre-season tour of Asia - while training at former club Real Sociedad - has soured his relationship with supporters. Toon chiefs have tried in recent weeks to find a replacement - namely Benjamin Sesko - but to little avail.
Newcastle United transfer stance
The Slovenian - like many other targets this window - snubbed a St James’ Park switch. Manchester United landed Sesko to deal a blow to Isak’s hopes of joining Liverpool.
NewcastleWorld does expect Yoane Wissa to arrive from Brentford at some stage. However, the 28-year-old is viewed as Callum Wilson’s - not Isak’s - successor. It is appearing increasingly likely that Isak must buckle up and face the black-and-white music for another year. Liverpool have not made another approach since having a formal offer rejected two weeks ago.
Alan Shearer on Liverpool offer
Speaking to the BBC, Shearer hit out at Liverpool’s derisory £110million offer - insisting not even Dan Burn is worth that. He said: “In recent years, we have seen Enzo Fernandez, Declan Rice and Jack Grealish go for around £100million.
“So, if that is the bar, they (Liverpool) are never going to get Isak, a 25-year-old striker who has scored 44 Premier League goals across the past two seasons, for £110million. I don’t think you’d get Dan Burn for that, to be honest.
“Newcastle have named their price, which is nearer to £150million, so we will have to see what Liverpool do next. One way or another they have to resolve it, but that won’t be easy. Isak clearly wants to leave St James’ Park and join Liverpool, but he cannot be sold if they don’t get anyone in to replace him.
“It seems obvious that Liverpool have got into him, or his agent, to turn his head and make him want to go there. From a players’ perspective, rather than a fan, I get the mentality where he has made his mind up about what is best for his future too.”

Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak
Speaking at the weekend, Eddie Howe, while not entirely nailing Isak publicly, strongly hinted that the decision for him not to play has been his own. He told reporters: "We've had discussions and it's clear at the moment that we can't involve him with the group. I don't know how long that will be for, but that's the latest.
"I'd want Alex to be playing today. I'd want him training tomorrow. We would love the player to be with us. Let me make that absolutely clear. There's no part of me that doesn't want that outcome, but I don't see the current situation changing for Aston Villa."
