Martinez has been on the sidelines since suffering a serious knee injury in February, and while the centre-back is now back in light training, he will not be cleared to play for some time yet.

Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Arsenal)
Onana has been dealing with a hamstring problem during pre-season, and he again missed out against Fiorentina last time out, but the goalkeeper is expected to be cleared to take on the Gunners.
Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee on December 15, 2024
Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Arsenal)
Zirkzee has not featured at all during pre-season due to a muscular problem, and the Netherlands international remains a major doubt for the contest with Mikel Arteta's side.
Manchester United's Noussair Mazraoui on September 29, 2024

Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: August 17 (vs. Arsenal)
Mazraoui's hamstring problem, which he suffered against Leeds United in the team's pre-season opener, has proven to be more troublesome than initially feared, and it would be a major surprise if the Morocco international was in the matchday squad for this match.
