Chelsea pocketed around £84.4million for winning the inaugural edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in July, after they stunned Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final.
A fund of £11.4m has since been allocated as winnings to be shared between the players who participated in the tournament.
But a decision made jointly between the club and the players themselves means that a donation of equal size to one player’s portion will go to Jota’s family.

The value of each portion is $500k, before being subjected to currency conversion fees, employer costs, taxes and social security.
Last month, Liverpool announced that they were permanently retiring the No20 shirt at all levels in memory of Jota, who moved to Anfield from Wolves in 2020 and scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds.
