Journalist reveals the one reason why Liverpool would re-negotiate the transfer of 'class' ace this summer

Alexander Isak’s future is still up in the air, even though he wants to move to Liverpool.

Newcastle haven’t allowed negotiations to be held for the attacker, which has forced Isak to refuse to play for Eddie Howe’s team ever again. In fact, Isak has now even listed his house in Newcastle for rent.

Not only does this show that the Sweden international can’t see any future whatsoever at St James’ Park, but it also shows where his head is clearly at.

And after Liverpool’s first bid worth £110million was rejected, they’re yet to make another move for the attacker.

Liverpool would only make a bid for Alexander Isak if there was a possibility of the deal going through

Seeing as though the Reds’ first bid was flat-out rejected with no counter-offer, it’s unclear whether Liverpool will make another move for the striker.

Indeed, the striker is still Arne Slot’s number one target, but unless Newcastle drop their demands a bit, it’s unlikely that they will want to re-enter negotiations.

That is, at least according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who, while speaking on the Born N’ Red Podcast, shared his verdict on the transfer saga.

“Liverpool if they’re back (in talks with Newcastle) are only coming to collect Alexander Isak, they’re not coming to be speculative, they’re not coming for a back and forth,” he said.

“Liverpool are only going to come back to the table if they know that this (Isak) is happening.

“If there is a development club-to-club, I think Liverpool fans can get very excited, very quickly.”

What Alexander Isak signing for Liverpool could mean for Hugo Ekitike

As every Liverpool fan will know, they’ve already spent a hefty chunk of change on improving their first-team squad this summer.

Players such as Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have been brought in to bolster their ranks, and even though they lost in the Community Shield final against Crystal Palace on Sunday, it was clear that there was even more quality among their ranks this season.

Indeed, Ekitike is one of the biggest signings that Liverpool have made this summer, with the Frenchman’s natural position being as a number nine.

If Isak were to join, however, the Sweden international would be Slot’s main striker, which would likely force Ekitike out onto the left wing.

And, while this wouldn’t be ideal, Ekitike often drifts out onto either side of the pitch to make runs to split the opposition’s defence.

Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.

But, when the fact that Isak has been described as “class” by Howe is taken into account, it’s clear that Liverpool would have an incredible player on their hands.
