Club using ‘harassment and demolition strategy’ in hope of €20-25m Liverpool deal

Real Madrid are willing to wait until the end of the transfer window to try and sign Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool.

That’s [according to Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/real-madrid/konate-ultimo-acoso-derribo-madrid-mercado-fichajes-120619237), who say the Spanish giants are ‘leaving a bullet in the chamber’ despite a summer of big spending already.

According to their information, Konaté’s name continues to sound strongly at the Spanish giants, and they believe his contractual circumstances are providing the perfect breeding ground for his arrival in Madrid.

His current deal with Liverpool expires next summer and he’s yet to sign a new deal. A report earlier today stated Liverpool intend to make a new offer this week and could sell in this window if Konaté doesn’t agree.

Madrid are aware of this and want to apply the ‘harassing and demolition strategy’ that they have employed in other deals. They’ve already worked on Konaté for months in advance of him potentially being a free agent next year.

They’re even prepared to sign him before then for a lower fee given his contract is due to expire next year and this summer if the final one in which Liverpool can make any money back.

Real Madrid are no stranger to a last-minute deadline deal and have the advantage of the Spanish window closing several hours after the Premier League one.

The focus is very much on Konaté, though, with his refusal to sign a new deal at Anfield opening the possibility of a deal being done at €20-25m. That’s a figure Real Madrid would be willing to pay.

Even if Liverpool don’t accept, they know they have the player’s approval and will wait until next summer to get him instead.
