Player’s father informs club of willingness to leave Manchester United–Next week key

On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund is now considering an Old Trafford exit.

This gave a lot of encouragement to AC Milan, who have a draft agreement with the Red Devils about a deal and are working to agree the overall terms of the move.

Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport report that on Tuesday, Milan management directly contacted the entourage of the Danish striker.

This led to Højlund’s father – Anders, making it clear to the Rossoneri that the striker is interested in leaving Manchester United and joining Milan, expressing the respect they have for the Italian giants’ history and for how strongly they have pursued the player this summer.

The next step is for the 22-year-old to discuss the project at hand with Milan and understand his role in the team. These conversations will also involve Max Allegri, who can explain his tactical setup to Højlund to showcase how he will be used in the system.

Manchester United and Allegri’s side are currently only €10m off in their valuations and the Dane himself is looking for guarantees around a permanent move to the San Siro.

There is confidence that a deal can be done, with Milan sporting director Igli Tare doing everything he can to reach an agreement by the middle of next week.
