But two fellow Albion loanees caught the eye for more positive reasons in midweek Carabao Cup action.
Gustavo Hamer sent a shot from just inside Birmingham territory past Beadle at St Andrew’s.
The spectacular strike caught everyone by surprise and brought Sheffield United level but dominant Birmingham regained their composure to win 2-1.
Still, it was not an auspicious start to life with his new club for the England under-21 international.
Beadle was on the bench for the opening fixture against Ipswich in the Championship.
He was brought in to face the cross-city rivals of the club he served on loan in the last two seasons, Sheffield Wednesday.
Blues boss Chris Davies said Hamer should not have had the chance to unleash his shot because the ball had just hit the referee,
But he praised new signings who include Albion defender Eiran Cashin, on loan for the season.
Cashin, who looked strong and determined in pre-season with the Seagulls, impressed at the back.
Davies said: "You can sometimes forget that these players have been with a different coach, different teams not long ago - different ideas, different principles.
"It takes a little time, but we looked seamless, we looked like we'd picked up where we'd left off against Ipswich.
"I was really impressed with the new players, the way they have picked up our principles so quickly."
Amario Cozier-Duberry continued his bright start on loan at Bolton with a superb left-footed curler coming in off the right to force extra-time against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Albion and former Arsenal winger went on as sub and forced a 3-3 draw before Wednesday won a shoot-out.
Cozier-Duberry scored a similar goal at Hibs in pre-season and is already making a big impression with Bolton.
