The Dallas Cowboys have found themselves in a difficult situation with one of their star players.
Micah Parsons is looking for a contract extension, and like many of his colleagues around the league, he’s frustrated with the team’s unwillingness to get a deal done quickly.
Parsons has been one of the best defensive players in the league since he was drafted, and he seems to believe he should be among the highest-paid defenders, if not the highest.
Despite the Cowboys having lots of money, owner Jerry Jones and other members of the front office haven’t budged, at least to this point.
With these public comments, Parsons has painted Jones in a poor light, making it seem like it’s been difficult to work with him.
Jones pushed back on this, as reporter Jon Machota noted in the “New York Times.”
“When asked what’s preventing Jones from having contract talks with Parsons and his agent, the owner and general manager responded, ‘nothing,'” Machota wrote.
It appears that there’s a disconnect between the two sides, at least, according to Jones’ comments.
To him, there isn’t a barrier between the front office and Parsons, even though a deal has not been completed.
It will be interesting to monitor this situation over the next several weeks, especially since the NFL season starts in under a month.
If Jones and Parsons don’t strike a deal soon, this could get ugly, especially if he misses any time during the regular season.
