The Lakers forward will begin his 23rd NBA season on opening night and surpass Vince Carter for the most seasons played in league history, according to NBA Communications.
The four-time champion will officially start this unprecedented 23rd season when the Lakers face the Golden State Warriors on October 21.
LeBron already holds the record for the most minutes played in NBA history, with 71,104 minutes across 1,854 regular and postseason games, even though he won't formally become the league's longest-serving player until the new season begins.
Last season, the 40-year-old 21-time All-Star averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists.
