Leeds United make their return to Premier League action with a home clash against Everton on Monday.

Daniel Farke has his work cut out to keep Leeds in the Premier League, having guided the Whites to promotion from the Championship a few months ago.

Leeds kick things off against Everton at Elland Road in what will be a momentous occasion in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

However, Jeff Stelling is not so confident for Leeds heading into the contest.

Leeds predicted to fall to defeat against Everton

Everton have not had the best of pre-seasons and are certainly there for the taking, even if they do now have Jack Grealish on their books.

Leeds will head into the game against an Everton side that have outspent them seeking all three points, which will set the tone for what will hopefully be another memorable season.

However, Stelling does not believe the vociferous Elland Road crowd will be enough to get Leeds over the line on Monday.

Speaking via talkSPORT’s X account, Stelling predicted an Everton win and then said “sorry” to Leeds fans.

“Daniel Farke has admitted his side need to improve their attack, not just in terms of numbers but also quality.

“That’s the problem for the Premier League news boys – there have been plenty of players through the door, but do they have the quality? Certainly not up front.

“By contrast, Everton have their marquee signing with Jack Grealish coming through the door.

“He’ll be wearing the number 18 shirt, and I think he’ll make a massive impact at Everton’s new ground.

“Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall looks a good signing, too, and Iliman Ndiaye is a proper player and can have a brilliant season if fit.

“Everton can overcome a wall of noise at Elland Road; they can overcome a 20-minute onslaught for the home side.

“I have them to make a winning start. Sorry, Leeds fans. Leeds nil, Everton one.”

Leeds’ head-to-head record against Everton

Leeds have failed to win any of their past five meetings with Everton, each coming in the Premier League, losing three of those.

Leeds 1-2 Everton (February 2023)

Leeds 2-2 Everton (August 2022)

Everton 3-0 Leeds (February 2022)

Leeds 1-1 Everton (August 2021)

Everton 1-0 Leeds (February 2021)

The most recent such encounter came in February 2023 when Leeds lost 1-0 at Goodison Park.

Seamus Coleman scored the only goal that day in the early stages of Sean Dyche’s Everton tenure.

Not since November 2020 have Leeds defeated Everton, doing so 1-0 thanks to a goal from Raphinha in the 79th minute.

Leeds fans would certainly bite your hand off for the same outcome in this next encounter.
