Everton's active transfer window could be set to continue in the coming days, according to reports - with the Toffees set to sign Charlton Athletic youngster Reuben Gokah on a long-term deal to come into their ranks.
The Toffees have undergone a huge rebuild this summer under David Moyes after years of being a bottom-half Premier League side in the past half-decade, only avoiding the drop in the final week of the season in two of the past four top-flight campaigns - and with a new stadium, new owners and a healthy budget thanks to FFP regulations, they are set to spend continue their flurry of activity that has massively improved their squad in the past few weeks.
However, it's not just first-team players that will be making the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the report by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) stating that Everton have agreed a deal with Charlton to sign Gokah on a long-term deal, with documents having been signed on Thursday ahead of a move from the capital to Merseyside.
Gokah, born in 2009, will be a part of Everton's youth academy to start, with their new 'exciting project' targeting the best youth players in the country, a route that has worked well for them in the past.
Notably, signings from clubs further down the pyramid have proven successful in the past. Everton have dealt in that regard with Charlton in the past, signing then-youngster Ademola Lookman from the south-east London side - and although he only went on to make 48 appearances for the Toffees before departing for RB Leipzig two years later. He's now a star for Serie A side Atalanta, and could be on his way to Inter Milan after reports of a transfer all summer.
Elsewhere, Jarrad Branthwaite joined the club from Carlisle United as a teenager and has now cemented his spot as one of their starting centre-backs, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin was signed for just £1.5million for Sheffield United, going on to become their third-top scorer in Premier League history before departing this summer.
With the likes of Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou all joining the club this summer among others, there is real reason to be excited for those of a blue persuasion on Merseyside.
