Liverpool have had one of their best-ever transfer windows in the 2025-26 season.
They’ve spent over £250million on bolstering their ranks this summer, and with there still being over two weeks left in the window, there’s still plenty of time for more changes to be made.
Giovanni Leoni is the player who’s closest to sealing his Anfield switch, with the centre-back’s medical scheduled to take place on 14 August.

However, it’s not only Leoni who’s rumoured to be close to sealing a move to Merseyside.
Darren Bent can’t believe Marc Guehi could be sold for £35million
One of the other players who has been heavily linked with an Anfield switch is Marc Guehi.
The Crystal Palace captain has entered the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park, and even though he could be signed for nothing at the end of the season, a fee in the region of £30-£35million would be a steal.
And, while live on talkSPORT, Darren Bent shares the same thoughts as he was left shocked at how much Palace would be willing to lose their captain for.
“Guehi, I think he’s got everything,” he said.

“I thought he was one of our best players in the Euros, he was brilliant, strong, powerful, [and] he could play with the ball.
“He looks like a real leader, he looks like a really good character as well, I think he’s top drawer, I genuinely do.
“I’m shocked to be fair, at that price [£35million], the amount of teams that are looking for centre-halves, I think he’s good enough to play for Manchester City, I know they got Ruben Dias and Stones but he’s good enough to mix it with them boys.
“I think he’s good enough to go to Liverpool, he’s good enough to play at Arsenal.”
Liverpool should still try and sign Marc Guehi this summer
As mentioned, Leoni is currently on his way to Liverpool to have his medical to sign for the club.
However, even though the centre-back was a regular feature for Serie A side Parma last season, he’s still only 18 years old, so he can’t be fully relied upon to be the back-up for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
Indeed, Joe Gomez is still at the club, but due to his injury history, it feels highly unlikely that he can be relied upon on a regular basis.

Guehi is a world-class centre-back, and with the future of Konate still up in the air, Slot would do well to find a better replacement than the Englishman.
Of course, it would mean that he has three centre-backs who all deserve to start, but with the amount of games in the season, plenty of rotation could occur if and when needed, hence why the Reds still need to sign the former Chelsea man.
