Wolves 'make approach' for Serie A defender after Nottingham Forest 'enquiry'

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified yet another potential right wing-back target ahead of the new Premier League season.

Despite making three additions during the summer transfer window, Vitor Pereira is known to want at least three more fresh faces before the September 1 deadline.

Acquiring a replacement for Nelson Semedo will not happen prior to Saturday's Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Ki-Jana Hoever is in line to make his first competitive appearance for Wolves since the 2021-22 campaign, but work is continuing behind the scenes.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are attempting to secure a deal for a defender previously linked with Nottingham Forest.

Which Serie A full-back are Wolves targeting?

The report alleges that Wolves have made an approach to sign Hellas Verona right-back Jackson Tchatchoua.

Forest have moved away from their interest in the Cameroon international, who has been plying his trade in Serie A since August 2023.

A total of two goals and five assists have been recorded from 64 appearances, the exact same numbers being posted at previous club Charleroi.

Tchatchoua is capable of playing down either flank at full-back, wing-back or on the wing, seemingly making an ideal addition to Pereira's squad.

There are currently two years remaining on his contract, leaving Hellas Verona with a decision to make over whether to cash in on his signature.

Previous reports have indicated that Hellas Verona are keen to generate in the region of £13m if they are to sell the 23-year-old.

Could Hellas Verona set higher asking price?

When Wolves have attempted to sign the likes of Marc Pubill and Juanlu Sanchez, it has been suggested that they were willing to shell out approximately £17m.

Hellas Verona may feel that there is room to demand a bigger fee from Wolves, even though Tchatchoua is clearly not the West Midlands outfit's first choice.

With Forest having once been interested in signing Tchatchoua, Wolves' hierarchy may feel encouraged to push through a deal for the player if he has admirers higher up the Premier League table.

Hoever is also viewed as a stop-gap first-choice option, something which Hellas Verona will recognise when the Dutchman has less than one year left on his contract.
