Wolves are preparing for the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season

Wolverhampton Wanderers start the new Premier League season with a tricky home clash against Manchester City this weekend. They will be eager to begin with a positive result in front of their own fans. The Midlands outfit then head for an away trip to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 23rd August.

Vitor Pereira managed to keep them up with relative ease in the last campaign after he replaced Gary O’Neil in the dugout at Molineux. He is now gearing up for his first full term in charge. The Portuguese head coach has the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the window.

Wolves approach Jackson Tchatchoua

According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have made an ‘approach’ to speak to Hellas Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua. Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest in the player but are said to have taken a step back now. That could now pave the way for Pereira’s side to swoop in.

Journalist Romano has shared this latest update regarding his situation on X: “Wolves have made an approach with Hellas Verona to ask for Jackson Tchatchoua as new right back. Forest also enquired weeks ago but did not proceed.”

Tchatchoua, 23, is under contract at Hellas Verona until June 2027 so still has a couple of years left to run down on his deal. However, his current club risk losing him this summer amid attention from elsewhere. They are under no pressure to cash in on him just yet though which means that they can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.

The right-back joined the Serie A club back in 2023 on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent. He has since become one of their most prized assets and gets plenty of game time under his belt in Italy. The Cameroon international, who has 10 caps under his belt so far in his career, has made 64 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with two goals.

Where would Jackson Tchatchoua fit in at Wolves?

Tchatchoua would fill the void left by Nelson Semedo’s exit at Wolves. He would give them more competition and depth and another option to pick from. In addition, he is a player who likes to get up and down the flank of defence and get involved in attacks which is useful.

The Belgium-born man started out at Standard Liege and OH Leuven before linking up with Charleroi in 2016. He broke into his former team’s first-team as a teenager in around 2021. He went on to play 64 matches for them altogether and found the net on two occasions before he was given the green light to head out the exit door for a new challenge at Hellas Verona.

Wolves could now see him as someone to boost their ranks. Pereira could do with some more new faces over the next couple of weeks to ensure his team is ready. They have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to get deals over the line.
