Liverpool are preparing for the opening game of the Premier League season where they will host Bournemouth at Anfield.
Arne Slot‘s side have had somewhat of a generational transfer window, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong. They are now tasked with defending the Premier League title, which they so impressively claimed last year.
The likes of Arsenal and Man City will no doubt be watching on Friday night, hopeful that their title rivals get off to a slow start. But with all his new signings and added talent, Slot will hope to blow Bournemouth away on the opening day. They come off a defeat in the Community Shield, and hope to bounce back this weekend.

Potential injury casualties include Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch and Joe Gomez – Slot will have to decide which of his new players should start in the first game on Friday.
Two new additions in the Liverpool defence
GK – Alisson – Despite the arrival of Giorgo Marmardashvilli in the summer, Liverpool will still rely on Alisson in goal after an excellent season last year.
LB – Milos Kerkez – Kerkez joined from Bournemouth, and now he will be making his first Premier League appearance for Liverpool against his former side.
CB – Virgil Van Dijk – Not much needs to be said here, Van Dijk starts every game when he is fit, and that is the end of it.
CB – Ibrahima Konate – Based on recent reports, this slot could be filled by Marc Guehi soon, but Konate still has the shirt for now.
RB – Jeremie Frimpong – Seeing as Conor Bradley is dealing with a knock, it seems as though Frimpong will get his first Premier League start this weekend too.
Wirtz plays the 10 role in the midfield
CM – Alexis MacAllister – With no Gravenberch, MacAllister may be asked to play a deeper role than normal to make up for the Dutchman’s absence.
CM – Dominic Szobozslai – The Hungarian midfielder takes his place in the middle of the park, hoping to feed the likes of Salah and Gakpo in front.
CAM – Florian Wirtz – The German will be hoping to get his Liverpool career off to a flying start against Bournemouth.
Ekitike starts up front
LW – Cody Gakpo – The Dutch winger was superb last season for Slot, he takes the role on the left with no more competition from Luis Diaz, who joined Bayern Munich.
RW – Mo Salah – He’s back for another year to torment the opposing defences in the Premier League, Salah will hope for yet another Golden Boot.
ST – Hugo Ekitike – New signing Ekitike will start up front to replace Darwin Nunez, who left to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
