Members News: Jordy Fixed Up With New Club – Boston United

Jordy Hiwula in the Sky Blue

Only signed up for the Association in May 2024 we are delighted to hear our fairly recent recruit ex Sky Blue wide forward Jordy Hiwula (full name Hiwula-MayiFuila) will again be playing football in season 2025-26 having signed for a new club. Thanks to the CovSupport News Service Facebook site run by our Associate member Kev Monks for alerting us to that fact that Jordy has joined National League side Boston United on a one year deal after being out of the game since 2023-24. Jordy has already netted for United in a pre-season friendly when on trial!

Jordy played two League One Sky Blue seasons (2018-20) and notched seventeen goals in his 61 games. He supported the Sky Blues in our very recent Wembley F.A.Cup semi final against his home-town rivals Manchester United (below left).

Born in Manchester on 21/09/1974 Jordy started out as a youngster with local side Fletcher Moss Rangers before joining the youth set-up at Manchester City in 2012. He scored a phenomenal 20 goals in 31 games in their U21 side in 2013-14 and was capped by England U18s and U19s. He didn’t get a first team outing for his home town Premier League club but was sent out on loan to two League One clubs (Yeovil Town and Walsall) to gain games experience in 2014-15. Transferred in July 2015 to Championship side Huddersfield Town he spent three seasons there but only got one outing (a League Cup tie) once more playing most of his football on loan, at Wigan Athletic and Walsall (again) in 2015-16, Bradford City (2016-17) and Fleetwood Town (2017-18).

Mark Robins took a chance on Jordy in August 2018 signing him on a two year contract. He debuted on 4th August 2018 in our home defeat against Scunthorpe United and grabbed his first Sky Blue goal in an EFL Trophy game against Forest Green Rovers getting his first league goal on 20th October 2018 in our win at Southend United. Released at the end of his second Sky Blue season Jordy joined Portsmouth in October 2020 on a short term deal and eventually scored three in his fifteen appearances before moving on to Doncaster Rovers in July 2021 netting a solo goal in his 25 appearances in 2021-22.

The following season he moved on again, this time north of the border, to assist SPL side Ross County for the 2022-23 season netting four goals in his 27 games before joing League Two Morecambe for the following season appearing just nine times. Now Jordy has a one year contract to prove himself again and we wish him all the best with his new club. We would love to see you at another Sky Blue game and/or CCFPA event (like Legends Day or Golf Day) whenever your playing commitments allow!
