Everton’s busy transfer window is showing no signs of slowing down.

Their tally of fresh summer additions currently stands at six, and more deals are anticipated at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before the transfer window draws to a close on 1 September.

Jack Grealish became the latest star to join Everton earlier this week, as his arrival was confirmed on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

David Moyes is still keen to bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming deadline, and he is now about to welcome another fresh face to his ranks.

Everton agree deal to sign Reuben Gokah from Charlton

Everton showed an interest in signing Reuben Gokah from Charlton Athletic earlier in the summer, and they have now managed to strike a deal with the Championship outfit.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees view the 16-year-old as a big talent for the future, despite the fact that he is yet to make his senior debut for the Addicks.

Moyes’ side are now widely reported to have agreed a deal to sign the defender on a long-term deal, with details regarding the move finalised on Thursday.

The 2009-born defender is the latest to come from a strong Charlton production line that has previously developed the likes of Joe Gomez, Nick Pope, Ezri Konsa and former Toffee Ademola Lookman.

Gokah has already represented England at both U15 and U16 levels, and is seen as a talent worthy of being part of Everton’s renewed attempt to target promising young starlets from around the country.

He is described as a “commanding presence” who is known for his “composed ball control” and “excellent positioning” by his agents Roc Nation.

The Toffees are right to target younger players

It is unlikely that Gokah will join up with Everton’s first team straight away, but it is still promising to see them keeping one eye on the future when it comes to their transfer business.

Three of Everton’s summer signings are aged 22 or under

The Toffees had the Premier League’s second-oldest squad last term

Only West Ham had a higher average age than Everton’s 27.9

There has been a notable effort to reduce the age of the squad this summer, with Grealish the only one of the six new senior arrivals to be aged higher than 26.

Of the remainder of those new additions, three are aged 22 or under.

The Friedkin Group have hugely exciting ambitions for the club over the next few years, and they already appear to be hitting the right notes when it comes to future-proofing the squads at all levels.
