Manchester United have reportedly identified four midfielders they may look to target as part of their rebuild this summer.

United have been busy this summer in the transfer market with three new signings completed so far. Benjamin Sesko became United's third signing of the summer last week, with the striker joining Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in moving to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim is busy preparing United for their first full season under his leadership as the club's head coach. The campaign will begin on Sunday with a home clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford, where all three new signings could be involved.

It's also in midfield where United are thought to be next looking for reinforcements. Brighton star Carlos Baleba has been heavily linked with a move to United over the last week, and now a fresh update has emerged about the Reds' quest for their next signing.

The Independent has claimed that United have four midfielders on their shortlist of targets for this summer. Baleba is at the top of the list, with Brighton said to have a £120million asking price.

Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is also mentioned in the report as being a player of interest to United. Morten Hjumland of Sporting Lisbon and Ederson of Atalanta are also said to be on United's shortlist of midfield targets this summer.

It has also been claimed in the report that United's vision for the futures has both Baleba and Wharton alongside one another in Amorim's midfield. it remains to be seen, though, whether or not either player will move to Old Trafford with fees on excess of £100million being needed to sign both midfielders.
