Man Utd receive major boost in bid to get rid of Jadon Sancho as 'bid made'

Manchester United have received a major boost in their determination to sell Jadon Sancho with Roma 'making an offer' to sign the flop who has been frozen out at Old Trafford

Roma have reportedly made an offer to sign Jadon Sancho.

Sancho spent the previous season on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United, with an agreement in place to make the move permanent for £25million. However, the Blues decided against activating this clause and paid a £5m escape clause to cancel the deal as Sancho returned to Old Trafford, where he has been told he is free to leave.

BBC Sport has now reported that Serie A side Roma have made an offer to sign Sancho. It's unclear yet what the size of the bid is nor whether it has been accepted.

United are believed to prefer a permanent deal for Sancho rather than another loan. It's unclear whether this preference will impact any negotiations for the deal, especially as Sancho's contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the season.

The Red Devils do have the option to extend it by a further 12 months, but it's very unlikely they will activate the clause having been attempting to sell the 25-year-old for almost two years.

Sancho has made it clear to United that he wants to leave the club, one thing at least that he and United agree on with Sancho no longer training with the first team.

Having been unable to drum up serious interest in their flop, the reported bid at least gives United hope of washing their hands with Sancho for good.

Sancho was joined by Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho in conveying this message to United, with Rashford being the only one of the five players to have left Old Trafford so far this summer.

Sancho is rumoured to be considering a move to Italy this summer, with Roma now joining Juventus in expressing interest in the United forward.

Champions League finalists Inter Milan have also been touted as a possible destination for Sancho, viewing him as an alternative to Atalanta's Ademola Lookman.

United are determined to sell Sancho and have until the September 1 deadline to do so. However, the closer the deadline draws, the more unlikely a permanent move is to be agreed.
