'I think': Wayne Rooney delivers honest verdict about Jack Grealish's loan move to Everton from …

Fans and pundits alike will be interested to see whether Jack Grealish returns to his brilliant best on loan at Everton — playing at a standard similar to when Manchester City won the treble or during his time at Aston Villa.

Theo Walcott tipped Grealish to succeed at Everton and believes that he could form a dynamic duo with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

When the Manchester City winger is in form, the 29-year-old has shown that he is capable of being one of the best attackers in the Premier League.

David Moyes personally wanted to sign Grealish and after being left out of City’s squad for their penultimate game of last season, the player would have appreciated being wanted.

Wayne Rooney believes Jack Grealish could thrive at Everton on loan

The Toffees have had their fair share of mavericks over the years, from Wayne Rooney to Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish is no different.

Moyes believes in Grealish and the Everton boss’ confidence could do wonders for the three-time Premier League winner as he hopes to redeem himself.

Wayne Rooney claimed on BBC Sport’s Match of the Day show that Everton could be the perfect destination for Grealish after his season-long loan move was confirmed, as he said: “For Jack, I think it’s a great opportunity.”

“Obviously, it’s a massive football club and great fanbase and I think for Jack to go there and be one of the main players, it’s an opportunity for him to go and shine, and get Everton back up the table and try and put himself in Thomas Tuchel’s plans again.”

What Wayne Rooney and Jack Grealish talked about before Everton loan move

Wayne Rooney’s stamp of approval would mean the world to Grealish, considering he is not just one of the best English players of all time but an Everton legend as well.

The former Aston Villa technician revealed he had a chat with Rooney recently during his first interview with Everton’s in-house media.

“It was the other day actually, I went for some Sunday dinner and I mentioned that the move could be happening and he only spoke good words about this club, as you can imagine.”

Grealish revealed that he discussed donning Wayne Rooney’s number 18 shirt at Everton, something he had in mind even before his chat with the former Manchester United goalscorer.

“And then, he mentioned something about the number 18 and believe it or not, I actually already had that in my mind anyway and I said that to him.”

“Obviously, [Paul] Gascoigne’s worn it and Wayne Rooney has as well, so, my two favourite-ever English players and it was either that or number eight but because of those two, I chose 18.”

Sam Allardyce expects Grealish to thrive at Everton and based on his latest interview, the player seems determined to have a fruitful loan spell as well.
