Marquette Golden Eagles alum David Joplin did not get lucky in the recently concluded NBA draft as he was not picked by any team, an outcome that matched early assessment of his NBA stock.

Marquette Golden Eagles Head Coach Shaka Smart shares a moment with his players junior forward David Joplin and freshman guard Zaide Lowery, right, on Selection Sunday at MECCA Bar and Grill in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles will take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Indianapolis in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

His closest chance to the NBA was getting a Summer League call up from Milwaukee Bucks but he barely got a playing time here.

Joplin played four seasons for the Golden Eagles’ and was the star player in his last college eligibility, finishing his college career with a Third-team All-Big East honor. He was also the Big East Sixth Man of the Year as back up to Oso Ighodaro who is in the NBA now.

He is the program’s all-time leader in games played (139), putting up a total of 139 points.

The 6’8 forward was ranked as the #72 best player heading into the draft. However, there were only 60 picks available.

David Joplin will play for French club BCM

NBA life may have not welcomed him for now but he will still become a professional basketball player after finding home with French club BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque.

BCM plays for the first division league LNB Elite and also competes in the Euro Cup.
