Manchester United youngster Sekou Kone has been discharged from hospital after suffering a head injury against Tamworth.

United's Under-21s visited Tamworth in the National League Cup on Wednesday evening, but the game was abandoned due to a head injury sustained by Kone at the end of the first half.

Kone was taken to hospital in an ambulance and so with no ambulance on-site the game had to be abandoned. United have now confirmed Kone was discharged on Thursday morning and is continuing his recovery at home.

The 19-year-old sustained the head injury after a clash with a Tamworth player from a corner. Kone initially stood to his feet, but went back to the ground under advice from medical staff. He was subsequently taken off the pitch on a stretcher.

The Mali youth international was making his first competitive appearance of the season against Tamworth. Ruben Amorim named Kone in the USA pre-season tour squad, but the youngster didn't make an appearance.

Amorim named Kone in three Premier League matchday squads last season - against Tottenham, Everton and Nottingham Forest - however, the youngster is still waiting to make his senior debut.

Kone signed from Malian club Guidars FC for around £1million last summer.
