Carlo Ancelotti might be surprised, as a former Everton player is about to complete a very special deal.
As David Moyes and Everton prepare for the new Premier League season, plenty of expectation has been put on the new signings.
The Friedkin Group will be hoping this season turns over a new leaf for the Toffees as Moyes’ work in the transfer window will soon be put to the test.
In the past, there have been failed moves on many occasions, where players haven’t lived up to the standard on the Blue side of Merseyside.
It seems the club have learnt from their lessons as Moyes isn’t going for ‘bad’ players, but one past star might have gotten away too easily as a club-record deal is almost complete.

Former Everton player Nathan Broadhead about to complete £10m club-record deal at Wrexham
Everton fans will always want to know how past players are getting on in their new ventures.
One of whom is former academy star Nathan Broadhead, as the 27-year-old is set for a big move after leaving the Toffees for Ipswich Town in January 2023.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has claimed that Championship side Wrexham have agreed a £10 million deal for the former Blues winger, making it the Red Dragons’ club-record transfer.

Everton sold Broadhead for £1.5 million, as when at the club, it was Ancelotti who gave the soon-to-be Wrexham star his debut.
However, the former Toffees manager might question the fee set to be paid for Broadhead, as he had some stern words about him upon his exit from Goodison Park.
Carlo Ancelotti claimed that Nathan Broadhead wasn’t progressing at Everton
It’s quite an extraordinary figure to pay for the winger, but Broadhead has shown positive signs during his tenure at Ipswich.
He only managed the one Premier League appearance at his boyhood club in Everton, playing away at Brighton in 2021, but this was deemed enough by Ancelotti.
Speaking to Liverpool World in the summer of 2024, Broadhead’s agent, Neil Sang, explained his exit, with the Italian giving a harsh verdict.
“I sort of look at it with a bit of regret for him because I felt he should have had a chance at Everton. I used to go and meet them and say: ‘Come on, give him his chance’ but it wasn’t meant to be,” Sang said.
“What I always found amusing was that the best manager Everton have had in a long time, Carlo Ancelotti, he was the one who gave him his Premier League debut.
“Ancelotti said this kid is going nowhere, but then Ancelotti left and the new team came in, which was a big change, and he’s surplus [to requirements].”
The winger did have a frustrating Premier League season with the Tractor Boys last season, which might have proven Ancelotti right.

But now Broadhead has the chance to show his former manager that he’s wrong, joining a club who are experiencing a meteoric rise.
For £10 million, the Welsh side will be expecting a lot, and the Toffees could soon live to regret his sale.
