Nico Gonzalez transfer could unlock Jadon Sancho move, Man Utd outcast would be ideal replacement

Jadon Sancho is looking for a move away from Manchester United.

After being told not to return to Carrington for pre-season preparations, the writing was on the wall for Jadon Sancho and others at Manchester United.

Sancho was unable to convince Chelsea that he was worthy of signing on a permanent deal. Now, his career is at a standstill.

Following a two-year transfer chase, Sancho signed for United in 2021 but ultimately flopped during his time at Old Trafford. The winger has been loaned out on two occasions to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

United hope they can get Sancho off the wage books this summer, although they have thus far struggled to find him a new club.

It was reported this week that Sancho turned down a move to Besiktas, where he could have linked up with former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was responsible for bringing the winger to Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen where Sancho will move next.

It will depend on whether either club can finance a deal to sign the United flop.

However, Juventus are not the only Italian side interested in Sancho.

AS Roma made an offer to sign Sancho on loan, but United are pushing for a permanent deal to ensure he leaves the club.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims Atletico Madrid have opened talks to sign Nico Gonzalez from Juventus, with initial talks underway over a potential deal.

The Italian journalist adds that this could unlock a new winger for Juventus.

That, in turn, throws Sancho back in contention for a move to Turin.

English players to play for Juventus

Sancho could become the seventh Englishman to play for Juventus if he joins the Old Lady this summer.

The first English player to play for Juventus was Johnny Jordan in 1948.

Tony Marchi followed 10 years later, before David Platt and Samuel Iling-Junior.

The others include Lloyd Kelly and Stephy Mavididi.
