BBC Sport maintain a formal proposal has arrived at Old Trafford and is under consideration, while Times Sport point out it’s likely to be a loan.
Naturally, he would have to extend his current Manchester United contract before a loan would be feasible.

He returned to base after a loan experience at Chelsea last season, but with a contract running down in June 2026 and not being part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, they are eager to get a sale done quickly.
Juventus had been in advanced negotiations and agreed personal terms with the player, but then focused on other priorities and left him on the backburner.
Besiktas, Inter and Borussia Dortmund all showed an interest, but now Roma would appear to be pursuing the England international.
Sancho can play wide right or left in a trident attack, so would suit the tactics of new Giallorossi coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
While the Manchester United asking price was €25m, that is considered excessive by most clubs for a player down to the final months of his contract.
