The Baltimore Ravens entering the 2025 NFL season will have a different twist to the kicking game on special teams. Justin Tucker is no longer the Ravens kicker after getting released in the offseason.

Tucker was with Baltimore since the 2012 season before getting released and he was one of the best kickers in the NFL for a lengthy period. Tucker started to show signs of decline during the 2024 NFL season. This season, the projected Ravens kicker will be rookie Tyler Loop. He has shown signs of being the long-term kicker for this franchise during the offseason.

Everyone knows that the best player on the Ravens is quarterback Lamar Jackson. However, there are going to be drives where Baltimore can not reach the end zone and they are going to have to rely on the field goal department to get them points. Jamison Hensley covers the Ravens for espn.com.
He believes that Loop is going to be the x-factor for this football franchise as the 2025 NFL season arrives. Hensley said,
“As if he didn’t face enough pressure in replacing Justin Tucker, Loop also could decide a lot of games based on recent history. Last season, Tucker was 9-of-16 (56.3%) in the Ravens’ five losses and was 13-of-14 (92.9%) in their 12 wins. Over the past five years, rookie kickers have made 82.8% of their field goal attempts (428 of 517). There will be plenty of critical kicking situations because quarterback Lamar Jackson keeps Baltimore in games and hasn’t lost a game decided by more than one score since 2023.”
There could be a couple of games in 2025 where field goals could potentially decide the outcome for the Ravens. Tucker over the years provided to be clutch for this team, until he didn’t have much left in the tank. Loop is looking to be that clutch kicker for Baltimore over the next decade. What they don’t want is for him to struggle to begin the season and have another kicker’s competition.
