Everton make decision on summer fate of 18-year-old midfield sensation

David Moyes’s Everton are considering sending midfield sensation Harrison Armstrong out on loan for the 2025/26 campaign.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Harrison Armstrong could be set for another loan spell, with Everton yet to make a final decision on his future. The Toffees are targeting a new defensive midfielder, and if they succeed, the teenage midfield sensation will almost certainly be sent out on loan once more.

Armstrong has been a part of the Everton setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team last summer. With the youngster failing to get enough minutes during the first half of the 2024/25 season, the Merseyside outfit ended up sending him out on loan to Derby County for the second half.

The teenage midfield sensation had quite an impressive loan spell as he was involved in 15 games and even bagged a goal. While the player is back at his parent club and has been a key part of their squad during the pre-season, his future is still uncertain.

David Moyes rates Harrison Armstrong very highly and believes he has the potential to be a special player for them. As a result, the 18-year-old was heavily involved in the pre-season before being rested for the game against AS Roma because of a minor thigh injury.

Armstrong could leave on loan again

While Harrison Armstrong could have a decent role in the first team next season, it depends on how Everton end the transfer window. They have already bolstered their midfield by signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and are now in the market for a new defensive midfielder.

If Everton secures a top-quality holding midfielder before the end of the window, Armstrong is likely to be sent out on loan. With Moyes unable to guarantee him sufficient minutes, a temporary move away would be the best option to ensure he continues his development at the same pace.

As many as ten Championship clubs are interested in signing the 18-year-old midfield sensation. While specific clubs have not been named, Derby County are expected to be one of them. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, who enquired about him last month, could also be in the mix.
