NBA 2K26 is going to have an exciting series first for its updated iteration of the popular MyTEAM mode. MyTEAM allows players to build their own team of current and former basketball players, customize jerseys and courts, and more. MyTEAM has been a series staple since NBA 2K13, over 10 years ago, and the mode has seen a lot of additions over the years, but this new one for NBA 2K26 might be the biggest shakeup yet.
According to a press release from 2K, for the first time in series history, players will be able to put both NBA and WNBA athletes on the same team in the MyTEAM mode, creating the most expansive team compositions in the history of the franchise. Attributes and badges have been adjusted to accommodate this new addition as well.

To balance out the stats between the NBA and WNBA stars, attributes and badges will function identically for all NBA and WNBA player cards in MyTEAM. That change will allow players to customize their team line-up however they see fit, without worrying about substantial stat differences. Whether any of the cover athletes pair up with basketball legends or each other is up to the player.
Additionally, there are WNBA expansions for MyTEAM. There will be a dedicated WNBA Domination tier, all the WNBA uniforms are available for customization, and all the WNBA courts will be available, too. New commentary to highlight the NBA and WNBA stars competing side-by-side has also been recorded by Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Van Gundy.

Besides being able to make a dream roster of both NBA and WNBA stars, there are a lot of new features and updates to NBA 2K26. It will, of course, feature co-op gameplay again, which has been a staple since its introduction in NBA 2K23. A new type of consumable card called Game Changer cards will be implemented, with powers ranging from recovering a win streak after a loss to reducing difficulty and more.
King of the Court tournaments return, with new prizes. The weekend competitions will run from September 12, 2025 to August 2, 2026. A new game mode called Breakout: Gauntlet has been added, which is a board game mode in which players complete games of increasing difficulty and can only use their player cards once, with better rewards the longer a run continues, similar to the Rougelike genre of games.
All-Star Team-Up and MyTEAM Arena modes will be available. In All-Star Team-Up, players can compete in 10-player, 5v5 co-op games with their friends or random players. Players can bask in their glory and achievements from all the game's modes in the MyTEAM arena.
MyTEAM will see additional updates as well, including single player salary cap, coach development, victory card exchanges, new crest rewards in Domination, and more. 2v2 half-court matches will also be available in MyTEAM's Triple Threat Park at Night, which features the return of NBA 2K15's Sunset Beach.
With NBA 2K26breaking new ground and expanding the MyTEAM mode further than ever before, fans are probably excited for the September 5 release. Early access will also begin on August 29 for those who pre-order the Superstar or Leave No Doubt editions of the game.
