Emiliano Buendía will not be leaving Aston Villa this summer as Unai Emery has him in his plans moving forwards.
That’s [according to Las Provincias](https://www.lasprovincias.es/valenciacf/valencia-sigue-mercado-20250814141049-nt.html), who say the Argentine had been among Valencia’s targets but is now not available.
The Valencia newspaper explains that Valencia had shown ‘specific interest’ in Buendía this summer and he was on the possible transfer list drawn up by the club and manager Carlos Corberán.
However, he won’t be wearing Valencia’s shirt next season as Emery has rejected his departure this summer. According to the newspaper, he’s counting on him for this season.
Buendía actually spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen after falling down the pecking order under Emery at Aston Villa last season.
He was replaced by Marco Asensio, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, but the Spaniard has not yet returned this summer, and it seems that has seen Emery decide to keep hold of the Argentine midfielder for the time being.
Of course that can always change, particularly with Aston Villa selling Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United and that opening up funds for them to do their own business before the end of the transfer window.
For now, though, it appears that Buendía will be remaining at Aston Villa, despite Valencia showing an interest in him.
