Kristaps Porzingis Hints At Future After NBA Career

Kristaps Porzingis is a former All-Star and NBA champion, which makes him one of the most acclaimed big men in the league.

But is there a chance that in a few years, he won’t be blocking shots but instead throwing fists?

Porzingis recently revealed that he could start a career as an MMA fighter once he’s done playing basketball.

“I have also tried my hand at MMA, but I promised one of the clubs I represent that I wouldn’t do it during my career. I’m saving up to start an MMA career after the NBA,” Porzingis said, via Fullcourtpass on X.

Last season, Porzingis averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 48.3 percent.

It was his second – and last – year with the Boston Celtics.

Just a couple of years ago, Porzingis helped the Celtics go all the way to the Finals, but he faced a few more problems in 2024-25.

He only played in 42 games and, once again, injuries were an issue for him.

So, it is somewhat surprising to hear him speak about playing in a sport that would do such physical harm to him, but he’s likely joking about really pursuing a career in MMA.

Instead, he will continue to focus on his time in the NBA because he is about to start a brand new chapter.

Porzingis is now a member of the Atlanta Hawks and is hoping to do a lot for them in the new season.

The Hawks believe that Porzingis can thrive in their system, and he was one of a few additions they made this summer that could transform them into a very competitive team.

Plus, Porzingis won’t suffer as bright a spotlight in Atlanta, so he might actually do better with the Hawks than he did with the Celtics.

Of course, if he doesn’t, he can always get serious about becoming a fighter full-time.
