The negotiations over Xavi Simons were never over between **Chelsea**and RB Leipzig. The Blues have now found a new way of getting the player. The German club has recently made it quite hard for the English club to arrive on the same page. But Chelsea never got frustrated and kept their patience. Now, the club has understood that RB Leipzig are playing ‘long ball’ with them. So, multiple reports have claimed that Chelsea have changed their approach. The club has now opened talks with RB Leipzig for a swap deal of Dutch international Xavi Simons. With the new season approaching soon, Chelsea want to bolster their left wing anyhow.
A Potential Swap Deal Offer to RB Leipzig
While Chelsea were playing in the FIFA Club World Cup, Noni Madueke made a shocking transfer to bitter rivals Arsenal. But Chelsea have moved on from that. But the club hasn’t made any solid replacement in that particular position so far. The Blues have shortlisted two names for that role. Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho has informed Manchester United that he wants to leave this summer. The club is also happy with that decision. From the first day, Garnacho wants to join Chelsea. On the other hand, Chelsea also are determined to get Xavi Simons by hook or by crook. Head coach Enzo Maresca wants to add Xavi’s impact on the frontline. But RB Leipzig are a hard club to deal with. The German club has been delaying the negotiations and now Chelsea have decided to offer a swap deal. According to the latest news, Chelsea have told Leipzig that they are willing to let go of one of their players to include Xavi Simons in their roster. Chelsea also have found the ‘scapegoat’ in Christopher Nkunku. Nkunku is one of the footballers who is going to part ways with the London-based club. Nottingham Forest were interested in him for a couple of weeks but that potential move has collapsed. Now, Chelsea want to add Nkunku to the deal. Eventually, Nkunku has already represented RB Leipzig in the past.

Will Xavi Become the Latest Name to Join EPL from RB Leipzig?
It is true that doing business with German clubs are difficult. But there is an interesting connection between EPL clubs and RB Leipzig footballers. Especially, Chelsea had signed players from Leipzig in the past also. As mentioned earlier, French attacker Christopher Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the 2023-24 season. Same history goes for Timo Werner. The German striker signed for the Blues after having a spectacular season with RB Leipzig. Werner joined the English club back in the 2020-21 season. He helped Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League title. But eventually he also failed to shine at Stamford Bridge. Now, Leipzig’s Slovenian sensation, Benjamin Sesko, has signed a long-term deal with Manchester United. Although the German club had a rough season this year, the club’s only bright spot was the attacking duo of Sesko and Xavi Simons. Swap deals have become very rare in this modern football era. But Chelsea hope that RB Leipzig will think again about the deal this time.

Nkunku has been discussed as option with Leipzig, same as Tyrique George.

Author’s Note: Another English Club Wants Xavi from Leipzig
In the present Dutch football team, Xavi Simons is probably the most important figure. No doubt there will be other clubs interested in him, too. Manchester City have reportedly liked the profile of the winger. Football pundits believe that the Cityzens will go all out for Xavi if Savinho decides to join Spurs in the coming weeks. English winger Jack Grealish has also agreed to join Everton on a loan deal. So, Manchester City definitely has space for the Dutch winger. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig might not match the wage demands of Nkunku. So, Chelsea will have to go for a direct transfer in that case. The upcoming few days will be crucial for Chelsea.
