The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the middle of their fourth week of training camp, with three and a half weeks remaining until the start of the regular season. They will practice a few more times before flying out to the Caesars Superdome for their second preseason game. The Jaguars will play against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The team currently has one of the two starting defensive tackle positions filled in, with one vacancy remaining. Multiple players will compete for the starting job alongside DaVon Hamilton, including an injured second-year player.

Maason Smith suffered an undisclosed injury away from the practice facility, resulting in the Jaguars placing him on the PUP list to start training camp. As a result, he has missed the first four weeks of practice but has taken part in individual drills off to the side with trainers. Smith is one of the few players vying for the number two defensive tackle role, but time is running out for him to win the job.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars have activated Maason Smith from the PUP list, allowing him plenty of time to be ready for the start of the season. It’s unclear to what extent he will participate in practice moving forward. Smith will likely start off with individual drills during the ramp-up period and move to team drills once he’s more comfortable.
