Manchester United have a tight deadline to work towards should they wish to improve their squad further before the start of the Premier League season.

The Reds begin their campaign on home soil as they welcome familiar rival Arsenal to Old Trafford. While the game will not decide their season on the spot, it will provide Ruben Amorim to see how his squad stacks up against a team who should be challenging for the Premier League title.

So far, United have added four fresh faces to their first-team for the new campaign. Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko could all make their debut for the Reds this weekend having been signed and registered before the Premier League's registration deadline.

However, should Amorim want any other new additions to his squad to take on Mikel Arteta's team, he needs to act quickly. The Manchester Evening News understands that United have until midday on the last working day before the game to ensure all players who they want available, are registered.

This weekend, United must therefore ensure their registration will need to be completed by 12pm on Friday. This deadline is the same for 18 clubs this weekend.

However, because Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth kick off the new Premier League campaign on Friday, their deadline for registering fresh players has already passed for this weekend. Currently, it does not seem like United will be signing any new players before the weekend.

Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba has been touted as a potential new recruit but it seems that United are too far away from the Seagulls' valuation to get that deal completed before the weekend, let alone Friday at noon. The registration window will be back open for United on Monday ahead of their fixture at Fulham.
