It’s a darts clinic in Denmark, where Nicolai Hojgaard just holed out for two eagles from the fairway in three holes

If you’re old like me, you probably remember NBA Jam, the classic two-on-two basketball game that used to dominate arcades across America. Like Golden Tee on the hardcourt, when you made two baskets in a row with the same player, the announcer would often shout “HE’S HEATING UP!” Folks, it’s with great joy that we finally get to say this in a golf context:

NICOLAI HOJGAARD IS HEATING UP!!!

You can’t be more dialed in than this. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200 dollars. On Thursday at the Danish Golf Championship, Hojgaard holed out for eagle from the fairway not once, but TWICE in the span of three holes, spinning one back for two on the par-4 12th and all but dunking another on the par-4 14th. Making things even sweeter for the Dane twin is the fact he did this at what is effectively his country’s national championship. Not a bad way to spend a weekday afternoon if you ask us.

Now the only question is whether or not Hojgaard will "catch fire." As our fellow old heads, still swooning in the pizza-grease nostalgia of NBA Jam, will no doubt remember, “Heating Up” was merely prelude to being “On Fire,” giving players unlimited turbo and better shooting accuracy after sinking three straight baskets. A trifecta of eagle hole-outs might be too much to expect from Hojgaard, but we hope the fire department is standing by just in case.
