Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson has signed a new contract and made a big call on his future for the season ahead.
The 21-year-old will spend another year on loan at Dundee United, returning to a club where he made a strong impression last season.
Stephenson’s previous deal was set to run out next summer, so Liverpool wanted to secure his future before agreeing to another loan.
The move comes after a summer where he featured in pre-season under new manager Arne Slot, but regular minutes at Anfield still seem unlikely for now.

Who is Luca Stephenson? The player on loan at Dundee United
Stephenson came through Liverpool’s academy after joining from Sunderland in 2018.
He captained both the under-18s and under-21s, showing leadership from a young age. Known for his versatility, he has played in midfield, right-back, and even at center-back.
Last season at Dundee United, Stephenson played 34 games, won the Young Player of the Season award, and helped the club to a top-four finish – all while battling a double hernia for four months. Manager Jim Goodwin was clear about how much he wanted him back, saying:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Luca back to Tannadice… he brings something unique in terms of his leadership, versatility and understanding of how we want to play.”
Several other clubs, including Swansea, Cardiff, Reading, and Rotherham, reportedly showed interest, while Aberdeen were said to have considered a permanent move.
But Stephenson opted for a return to Tannadice, a place where he clearly feels at home.
This will be his third straight season out on loan, and the big question is whether he will be ready to challenge for a Liverpool spot next summer.
For now, it’s all about another strong campaign in Scotland — and maybe a few more goals to sweeten the deal.
