The Dutch winger has been out of training and will not be travelling with the club to face Liverpool in the opening match of the Premier League season.
The Bournemouth manager added Christie has been training with the team this week, but that the opening match will be "too early for him".
After missing preseason, Iraola said the Scottish midfielder will held out until he is match ready.
He said: "Ryan Christie has been training with us this week, but I think it's too early for him because he hasn't done any preseason, hasn't basically done a lot of things for a lot of weeks, months.
"So, it's going to be too early."
Iraola added it was "day to day" if Dango Ouattara would be available for the season opener following rumours that may be heading to Brentford.
"Dango is going to train with us today," said Iraola.
"He's here, he's in the building, but it's true that I don't know what's going to happen.
"We are going day by day and I will ask the club if he can play tomorrow and he can travel, and we are in this kind of situations.
"I think every team will be in this kind of situation with players leaving, players arriving.
"We are moving day by day, basically, and we will continue for these next two weeks.
"We will continue like this."
Iraola also said Lewis Cook would likely remain out of the lineup until after the international break.
"Lewis is suspended, so it doesn't matter how he is, but he's injured," he said.
"I think Lewis, until the international break, he will be out."
He added Luis Sinisterra had recovered from injury but it was unlikely he would travel with the team to Liverpool.
"Sinisterra is in a situation also like Dango's situation where there is uncertainty about his future and I think the most probable thing is that he doesn't travel.
"But it's true that he has been training with us and I think he's recovered health wise."
