Two New York Knicks guards, Landry Shamet and Cam Payne, are among the candidates for Minnesota Timberwolves’ backup guard role.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to finalize their guard rotation for the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season.
According to The Athletic, the team has already explored several candidates for the spot, including former Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon and two New York Knicks guards, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet.
For now, Bones Hyland appears to be the front-runner for the final spot. Hyland signed a two-way contract with the Wolves in February, spent some time playing in Iowa, and logged the rest of the season with Minnesota.
Meanwhile, Cam Payne served as an important backup guard for the Knicks last season, averaging 6.9 points and 2.8 assists per game.
Landry Shamet played a similar role, averaging 15 minutes per game while contributing 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds.
