The dream Everton and Southampton transfer swap deal that would turbocharge Toffees' season

Everton are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window, as David Moyes continues to shape his side

Everton are looking forward to the start of the new 2025/26 Premier League season in the Hill Dickinson Stadium. David Moyes’ side have made headlines this week by landing Manchester City’s Jack Grealish on loan. The ex-Aston Villa man will spend the campaign on loan with the Toffees and will be looking to get as much game time as possible.

The Merseyside outfit turned to Moyes during last term following Sean Dyche’s sacking. He subsequently steadied the ship and kept them up with ease. They will now be eager to compete higher up the division if they can.

Everton long-term admirers of Southampton’s Tyler Dibling

Everton have been long-term admirers of Southampton ace Tyler Dibling and have seen bids rejected for him this summer, as per Sky Sports. The 19-year-old has a promising future in the game and would be a great long-term option if they managed to get him. He had spells in the academies of the likes of Exeter City and Chelsea and then settled with the Saints.

He was a regular at various different youth levels before breaking into the first-team picture under the guidance of their former manager Russell Martin, who is now at Rangers. The England youth international has become one of their most valuable assets but they face a battle to retain his services amid attention from elsewhere. He has made 43 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored four goals.

Everton could see him as someone to add more quality to their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he could offer them something different to what they already have at their disposal.

Like Grealish, Dibling is the sort of player who excites the supporters and can get fans off their seats. He is still young and has bags of potential to improve down the line. If the Toffees managed to get him as well, it would be another big statement of intent and would show that they mean serious business.

Everton should offer Southampton swap deal

Southampton won’t want to lose Dibling but there is an air of inevitability that he will move on. It would be a surprise if they kept hold of him in the Championship. They were relegated from the top flight after finishing in the bottom three along with Ipswich Town and Leicester City and are now eyeing an immediate return under new head coach Will Still, who has managed Stade de Reims and RC Lens in France in the past.

In an attempt to secure Dibling’s services, Everton should offer a player plus cash as part of a swap deal arrangement. Harrison Armstrong is highly thought of but would benefit from another loan exit. Therefore, they should see if the Saints fancy taking him on a temporary basis.

Armstrong, 18, spent the second-half of last term with Derby County in the second tier. He was given the green light to link up with the Rams to get some experience under his belt. The England youth international ended up playing 15 matches under the guidance of John Eustace and helped them avoid relegation to League One on the final day after they drew with Stoke City.

The teenager has been involved with Moyes’ side over pre-season but is unlikely to play a regular role in the league. If he went to Southampton it would allow him to get some more regular game time like he received at Derby. In addition, it would provide him with a new challenge and the chance to work under someone with fresh ideas like Still.
