'He had everything': Ezri Konsa says player Man City let go for free is his toughest ever…

Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa has named a Manchester City icon as the toughest opponent he has ever faced.

Manchester City are in the midst of a golden age at present and, over the past 15 or so years, plenty of iconic players have donned sky blue and done their bit for the club.

It’s crazy to think that, when City won the FA Cup in 2011, it brought an end to a 35-year trophy drought, considering they’ve been cleaning up on the silverware front ever since.

One player who contributed a lot to City’s glories in the 2010s and early 2020s has now been named by Ezri Konsa as his toughest ever opponent.

Ezri Konsa says Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero is his toughest ever opponent

Konsa spoke to JD Sports and was asked about his toughest opponent along with the best teammate he has ever had.

And while Konsa struggled to answer the latter, naming several big players such as Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, he didn’t hesitate on the former.

“Has to be Sergio Aguero,” the Aston Villa man said. “He had everything. Pace, power, finishing, strength, movement – so yeah, for me it has to be him.”

Sergio Aguero’s Manchester City career

Arguably the highest accolade for a footballer is to have a statue of their likeness outside the club’s stadium, and this is the case with Aguero.

The Argentine joined Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a then club-record £38million.

It proved an absolute bargain for the Citizens, as Aguero went on to carve his name in City and Premier League folklore.

Aguero made 390 competitive appearances for the Etihad club, registering 260 goals and 64 assists in all competitions.

‘Kun’ won five Premier League titles, six League Cups, one FA Cup and three Community Shields while at City, before leaving on a free transfer in 2021.

Aguero was also responsible for the most iconic Premier League moment of all time, the goal at 93:20 that helped City beat QPR and seal the title – at Manchester United’s expense – of the final day of the 2011/12 season.
