The Philadelphia 76ers could soon get back on track, but there’s no guarantee they will avoid another disaster.
Last season went about as poorly as it could have for the 76ers. Predicted to be one of the East’s top teams coming into the season, the 76ers quickly showed that they would be nowhere near the championship race in 2025.
With that nightmare behind them, the 76ers are hoping to bounce back and again be among the top teams in the Eastern Conference. However, with Joel Embiid and Paul George already having uncertain statuses for opening night, it’s hard to get too optimistic about what might happen in Philadelphia.
The 76ers have a solid young core to support their older stars, but if those older stars can’t stay on the floor, Philadelphia’s promising youth will be dealt a bad hand again next season. As predicted by [Bleacher Report](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25235718-win-loss-predictions-every-team-after-2025-26-nba-schedule-release)’s Andy Bailey, the 2025-26 season could be another disappointment for Nick Nurse’s squad.
Bailey predicted the 76ers to finish at 38-44, which is a 14-win improvement from last season but still nowhere near where Daryl Morey wants his team to be. On paper, the 76ers should absolutely have the talent to not only compete in the East, but also compete for a championship.
However, health will again be the story of the season in Philadelphia. If Embiid can stay on the floor and play at an MVP level again, Philadelphia could certainly prove its doubters wrong.
Of course, if the 76ers can’t stay healthy, their overall talent level will simply be the topic of what-ifs yet again in 2026.
