The Miami Dolphins were supposed to be one of the most explosive teams in the NFL.
They showed that in Mike McDaniel’s first year as head coach.
However, they haven’t fared as well when it comes to gaining more difficult yards.
“The Dolphins are the NFL’s worst short-yardage team. They had the highest RB-stuff rate since 2019,” analyst Warren Sharp wrote on X.

but… these might be self-inflicted wounds
no, they can't replace their OL or short yardage backs right now, however

They have multiple options at running back, but they don’t have a big-bodied bruiser who can pound his way through the defensive line.
More than that, they also have some serious doubts about their offensive line.
They’ve sustained multiple injuries at the tackle positions, and that’s not going to do much to help their cause.
All eyes will be on Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane, and, above all, Tua Tagovailoa.
There are some doubts about Tagovailoa and whether he’s the quarterback this team needs, especially given his history of injuries.
More than that, some also believe that McDaniel could be coaching for his job, as his teams have failed to live up to the hype and have yet to end Miami’s postseason win drought.
This will be a make-or-break season for the Dolphins, and they have to do better in short-yardage situations or overcome that with explosive plays and big gains.
