Norwich City set to battle Crystal Palace for the signature of ‘20 goal’ attacker

Norwich City secured their first win of the season in the Carabao Cup as they progressed in the competition past Watford.

This victory and progression will have put their disappointing opening day defeat to Millwall at Carrow Road behind them.

Liam Manning and Norwich City are expected to be busy in the transfer market until it closes in September as the club look to bring in several faces to strengthen the squad, while also getting rid of some players including Shane Duffy.

There is a hope that the interest in Josh Sargent from Europe has disappeared and he will spend another season at the club as he is viewed as invaluable to the squad by his teammates.

However, Norwich look to be set to battle it out with Crystal Palace for a striker who scored 20 goals last season who may be viewed as a long-term replacement for Sargent.

Norwich City interested in Dan Casey

The Canaries are said to be battling for the signature of Dan Casey with Crystal Palace; that is according to Fabrizio Romano, who took to social media to post the update.

Casey is an attacker who was at Arsenal last season, with the player scoring 20 goals at under-18 level for the Gunners.

However, he is currently out of contract at Arsenal; with the Gunners, he will hopefully sign a contract they have put on the table for him, according to Romano.

🚨 Crystal Palace and Norwich both made contact with Arsenal for 2007-born talent Dan Casey.

Arsenal have also tabled an offer to keep Casey as he’s currently out of contract, talks ongoing.

This current lack of commitment to Arsenal has seen both Norwich City and Crystal Palace make contact with Dan Casey to see if the 2007-born attacker would be interested in a future outside North London.

Dan Casey comparison to Jack Wilshere

The youthful Arsenal player has been looked at as the next Jack Wilshere by him and those within the club, as shared by the club website.

Dan Casey will be able to take lessons from Jack Wilshere, with the former Arsenal star having coached him at underage in the club.

Speaking to the club, Casey said: “This season has been a breakthrough for me, partly because I’ve been able to stay injury-free and play regularly. Last season I missed a lot of time due to injury, so it’s been great to have more minutes on the pitch and show what I can do. I’ve worked hard on my finishing in training, and it’s reflected in my goals.

“Although I see myself as a No. 10, I’ve also played up front quite a bit, and I’m happy to play wherever the team needs me to play.

“I’ve had the opportunity to train with the first team, which has been an amazing experience. At times it’s just to make up numbers, but during international breaks I’ve been able to get involved in full sessions.”
