The Houston Rockets are set to be one of the NBA’s premier teams next season, headlined by one of the league’s biggest stars.
There’s no secret that the Rockets are back in the top tier of the NBA’s media landscape after the past year. Following Houston’s ascension to the second seed in the West, it traded for future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant.
The Rockets were already cemented as one of the most intriguing teams in the league after their inclusion on the NBA’s opening night and Christmas Day slates. With the league’s full schedule release on Thursday afternoon, some more interesting dates have been revealed.
Among those dates is the first matchup between Durant and the team he just left. While Durant will face his first team on opening night in Oklahoma City, he’ll only have to wait a month longer to make his first appearance in Phoenix since getting dealt.
Set for a Nov. 24 matchup at the Suns, Durant and the Rockets will be featured on Peacock, one of the NBA’s new media partners for next season and beyond. Also, that matchup with feature the first time the Rockets will match up against Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, who were key parts of last season’s leap and were dealt to Phoenix in the Durant deal.
While there might not be many Suns games on the NBA’s premier slate next season, Durant’s return is sure to fuel some emotions from fans in Phoenix. Meanwhile, the Rockets will be looking to prove to the world they made the right call and will hope to avoid any revenge games from their former stars.
